Start the New Year on Retreat

This weekend (or day) retreat will offer a variety of ways to connect with both Spirit and your own soul using meditation, gentle movement, and journaling. The weekend will offer awareness building on the 9 fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) that have significant overlap with the 8Cs of Self Leadership outlined by Internal Family Systems (IFS): calm, curiosity, compassion, clarity, creativity, courage, confidence, connectedness.

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it can be difficult to access the wisdom of our own souls, where Spirit breathes within us.

Set an intention with the Spirit for this new year & shore yourself up at the start with the opportunity to anchor into your soulful intention with the guidance of Spirit.

What to Bring…

  • Blankets and/or mat. You'll want to be comfortable on the concrete floor, so bring as much padding as you want. You may want blankets under you and at times a blanket over you for certain meditations. Think of making yourself a little nest for the retreat. 🪺

  • Feel free to bring a camping chair if you'd like to sit during some of the meditations.

  • We'll be doing some walking meditation as well, so comfortable shoes to walk inside and/or outside (weather permitting).

  • Wear loose clothing you'll be comfortable doing some very, very gentle mindful movement in. Also a good idea to wear layers so that you can add or subtract clothing based on your comfort with the temperatures.

  • Water bottle.

  • Journal and pen.

  • Bring your lunch if only coming for the day and not staying overnight.

  • Snacks if you feel like you'll get hungry between meals.

  • Anything else that will make you comfortable.

  • If you’re staying overnight, sheets and towels are provided in your room and bathroom. I always like to bring my own pillow even though pillows are provided.

What to Expect:

This weekend is offered to assist you in dropping into your own soul and paying attention to Spirit’s breath, nourishment and support within you. We will spend the better part of the time in meditation to assist our minds, bodies, and spirits to do this. There will be brief shares on the fruits of the Spirit and how they overlap with the concept of Self Energy described by Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as stretches of time for journal prompts.

There will be an opportunity for group reflection. Participation in group reflection is always optional. Sometimes at the end of meditation hours people are clamoring to speak and others want/need more inner time without speaking. Please honor whatever you need.

Meditations will include...

  • sitting meditation

  • gentle movement meditation

  • walking meditation

  • body scan meditation

  • loving kindness meditation (usually done lying down)

This weekend is for you and your soul, mind, body and spirit. If at any time, you want to veer from the group meditation and do what meets your needs/wants more, please feel free to do so. Whether that is laying down when everyone else is in sitting meditation. Walking the grounds while everyone else is inside. Going and sitting in a spot outside while everyone else is inside. This time and space is for YOU and your connection to Spirit. For safety reasons, I do ask that you not get in water (pool or the lake).

Those who spend the night Saturday night will have an additional time after dinner for a brief talk led by Caroline on the 8Cs of Self Energy or Soul Energy and how the Spirit breathes through us, then some meditation and Reiki for each participant.

The end of the evening time together will mark the beginning of silence through the night until 8:30am Sunday morning. Allowing yourself the time and space to drop into your inner landscape will enhance your ability and willingness to connect with your own soul and Spirit. This quiet is meant to offer you nourishment and deepening into your intention for the year without distraction and obligation to connect with anyone other than your own soul and the Spirit.

During silence you are welcome to rest, journal, walk, sit, needlework, knit, work a puzzle, sleep. For deeper silence you are invited to refrain from reading and being on your phone or other technology.

Caroline will be available during silence if you need to discuss anything or struggle with holding silence. You will have her cell phone # and know which room she is staying in to find her.
