the joy of summer

I love summer something fierce. It is by far my favorite season of the year. It is as if the sunshine writes permission slips for more fun, relaxation and time with family & friends. As an oldest child that sometimes has a hard time getting off the hamster wheel of productivity, summer is my ace.

My walks move to first thing in the morning before the heat gets too out of control (also possible because I’m not driving children to school in the early mornings). I find my morning walks clear the cobwebs of sleep and break open space for ideas to roll around, creativity to take shape, and the serotonin now coursing through my body makes me think I have the energy to put ideas into motion. Heaven for a creative spirit!

This retreat day will consist of intentionally weaving our Christian faith with practices of mindfulness; we’ll learn about and practice mindfulness (breath meditation, gentle mindful movement, loving kindness meditation) as well as enjoy a healthy and delicious lunch. The hope is that you will leave the retreat day not only feeling nourished by the experience but also better equipped to practice moments of True Sabbath & mindfulness throughout the days and weeks to come.
